Our chestnut honey is collected from the chestnut forests of Taygetos at an altitude of 800-1200 meters. It has a deep reddish-brown color and a characteristic strong, slightly bitter taste with tannic notes. It is one of the most mineral-rich honeys, with high content of potassium, magnesium, and manganese. Traditionally used to improve blood circulation.
Producer's Story
Each summer we climb to Taygetos to collect this unique honey. The chestnut forests here are ancient, with some trees reaching 500 years of age. The tradition of chestnut cultivation in the area dates back to Byzantine times, and we feel honored to continue this heritage through beekeeping.
Seasonal Story
The July 2024 harvest took place after a particularly cool and humid summer, which favored nectar production from the chestnut trees. The result is a honey with exceptionally intense aroma and rich, complex flavor that reflects the wild beauty of Taygetos.
